A block from the Casa de las Conchas stands the Palacio de Monterrey, one of the great Renaissance palaces of Spain. It belongs to the House of Alba, and opened to visitors in recent years.
An audio guide leads you through the family's rooms, including some still in use, and a collection of paintings and furniture with works by José de Ribera, Alonso Sánchez Coello and Carreño de Miranda, presented with music, voices and images.
The visit ends with a panoramic view over Salamanca from one of the palace's towers.
Photography is not allowed inside, and the visit is not suitable for wheelchair users. An extra supplement opens the kitchen and staff rooms. It's a perfect next stop after the Casa de las Conchas.
